    Concept and Status Quo of AIoT in China

    Definition of AIoT

    Collaborative Application of AI and IoT

    Emerged in 2018, AIoT means that the system collects all kinds of information in real-time through various information sensors (usually in the monitoring, interaction, and connection scenarios), and intelligently analyzes the data through machine learning on the terminal devices, edge domain or cloud centers, including positioning, comparison, prediction, scheduling, etc. At the technical level, AI gives IoT to perception and recognition abilities, and the IoT provides AI with data for training algorithms. At the commercial level, the two work together in the real economy sector, promoting industrial upgrading and optimizing the experience. As to the specific types, there are three major categories: networked intelligent devices with sensing/interaction capabilities, equipment asset management through machine learning, and systemic solutions with networked devices and AI capabilities. From the perspective of collaboration, it mainly solves the problems of perception intelligence, analysis intelligence and control/execution intelligence.

    AIoT Architecture

    The architecture of AIoT mainly includes three major layers, which are smart devices and solutions, operating system, and infrastructure. The eventual delivery is through integrated services. The intelligent devices are like the "five facial features" and "hands and feet" of AIoT. They can collect image, audio, pressure, temperature, and other data, perform functions such as scraping, sorting, and handling. Usually, the customers are provided with the combination of IoT devices and solutions. This layer involves diverse device forms and many players. The OS layer is like the "brain" of AIoT. It mainly connects and controls the devices, provides intelligent analysis and data processing, and changes the core applications for the scenarios into functional modules. This layer usually exists in the form of PaaS and has high requirements on business logic, unified modeling, full-link technical capabilities, and high concurrent support capabilities. The infrastructure layer is like the "body" of AIoT. It provides IT infrastructure such as servers, storage, AI training and deployment.

    Emerged in 2018, AIoT means that the system collects all kinds of information in real-time through various information sensors (usually in the monitoring, interaction, and connection scenarios), and intelligently analyzes the data through machine learning on the terminal devices, edge domain or cloud centers, including positioning, comparison, prediction, scheduling, etc.
    It is estimated that there will be nearly 20 billion IoT connections in China in 2025. The massive connections will contribute to the intelligent development of all industries. In 2019, benefited from the large-scale implementation of AIoT businesses in urban areas and the initial popularization of edge computing, China's AIoT market revenue exceeded 300 billion yuan. As the implementation of AIoT needs reconstruction of the value chain of the traditional industries, the development pace of AIoT in the next few years will be stable.
